The race may be over, but the Loons aren’t finished just yet!

UPDATE FROM BRADY, MEMBER OF COMMON LOONS
DAY 4, 1 Jul 25
“Day 4 of the #wa360 and we’re anchored waiting for gale force gusts to settle so we can go though the Swinomish channel. 210 miles traveled, ~120 left to go and in 32nd place. We’ve paddled a 6800lbs boat though multiple windless nights, dodged ferry’s and cruise ships, got caught in the twilight zone, thrown around by currents, and fought through strong headwinds.”
This was the final update from Common Loons, after which they made their way through the Swinomish channel and fought their way to Bellingham Bay. It was in Squalicum Harbor that they concluded their race, unable cut through the killer winds trapping them there.

But not all is salty! New friendships were forged with teams such as Hold Fast, Bowl of Sloop, and many others. The race may not have been finished, but team Common Loons agrees even just making it to the starting line was victory! Half of this amazing battle was preparing a non traditional racing boat, and non traditional team of sailors for one of the most life changing weeks of their lives. Much was learned, and theres much more to be discovered… during next WA360, 2027!

Look forward to seeing the Common Loons return!
Until then, there are still dozens of photos, video clips, and stories to be told about Team Loons on this journey. So stick around to see where the wind takes us next! Till next post, stay loony!
